Biker Chicks with … Tina Doyle
Welcome to the latest edition of “Biker Chicks!”
I know—it’s been a while. Sorry. I had originally planned to post these columns more often, but something always seems to get in the way of my blogging. (Excuses, excuses ….)
Anyhoo, this edition comes from our Inside Sales-Coordinator, Tina Doyle. Now, Tina may come off a little shy here in her first report, but I’m sure once she sees her name up in the big Bike Blog lights, her next chapter will be more detailed than my dad’s ’79 Camaro. I’m pretty impressed by Tina’s two wheel stats; she’s got plenty of experience on pavement but has also spent time kicking up roost on the track and trails.
I must say, I’ve had a passion to ride motorcycles since I was very young. While most teenage girls were obsessed with the hunks of Teen Beat magazine, I was fascinated with the bad boys riding into school on their street bikes. But it was more than some teenage infatuation; I really liked bikes and would always try to figure out what brand each one was. Sadly, I never had a chance to learn to ride….
And then, opportunity knocks … or, should I say, revs?
After being hired on by Yamaha, a year passed by and I finally got brave enough and decided that it was now or never. I finally took the chance to go through with it: I got my motorcycle license and it has been my best experience so far!
Everyday, every week and every year has been a learning experience. I have been riding since August 2003 and everyday I learn something new. I bought my first bike almost two years ago and I try to ride as much as I can, learning more and more by the day! I just love it.
I don’t even have the words to express the feelings I get when I get on my YZF-R6S … the sense of freedom on two wheels, it’s so relaxing and … I just love my bike! All I need is great weather and I just hop on and go. Destinations unknown! [Ed note: In case you haven’t noticed, Tina really, really loves riding her motorcycle.]
Tina and Cal (Carolyn Hay, YMCA’s ad specialist) team up for a ride.
Two years ago, Cal and I (and a few others) did our very first day-ride to Bracebridge and back. It was a very spontaneous decision. We got up in the morning, and said we were going to get together and ride. We just kept riding until we ended up in Bracebridge.
At that time, I didn’t have my own bike; I was riding the FZS6 and it was also amazing and comfortable as well. We actually rode there just to have some dinner at Swiss Chalet, and then we rode back, taking all of the side streets. That was a crazy long day but so fun. Did I mention that I love riding bikes?
Now, my first time on a dirt bike was fun and funny. It was two years ago at a Yamaha Ride Day at Clinton Smout’s riding facility in Horseshoe Valley. I can’t even remember how many times I wiped out but I never stopped smiling!
So to all you girls out there looking for some real fun and excitement, put down the Teen Beat, get onto a motorcycle and ride! Believe me; you’ll love every minute of it!

I’m a biker myself. Got myself a Honda CG125 when I got myself a license in 2006 … been riding ever since. I’ve had the same experiences, learning something new everyday. Today I can confidently say that I’m ready to upgrade to a faster bike.
I’ll be gratuating soon and will soon enter the job market. Once I get a job, I’ll be buying a sport bike (or should I say a super sport bike?
) … I’ve got my eyes on three models, the Hayabusa, the Yamaha R1 (I’m a BIG Yamaha/Rossi fan!!) or the R6 …
Thanks for reading, Hamza! Feeling confident, need a few more ponies, eh? Be sure to check in with your local Yamaha dealer regarding a demo ride when weather permits. It would be great for you to try out the new R1. It’s turning heads, for sure! We even have the all-new Rossi Edition, so you can look just like your hero. Also, check out yamaha-motor.ca next spring for our Power Tour Demo schedule. Another great chance for you to test out an R1 and other Yamaha motorcycles. Safe riding!
