Twas’ the night …

Another Christmas has come and gone [sigh] … hopefully all of you had a safe, fun and joy filled holiday. I know I did, as my waistline has increased by two inches! It’s a little late to be singing carols, but we had to do something with this melody passed along to us from Northern Stars president, Pat Norris. It came to her from a Stars’ member. Write this one down and share with friends and family at Christmas 2010 ….

Twas’ the night before Christmas, the snow was piled high,
I looked in the garage, and heaved a great sigh.

My bike covered up like a newborn babe,
The tank was full, the lines were all drained.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
With visions of new mods thick in the air.

Highway pegs, and a gel seat for my back,
Kuryakyn switch covers, or a new luggage rack.

I’d just settled down for a long winter’s nap,
When a rumble I heard – sat up with a snap.

Ran to the door, turned on the lights,
‘cause I knew what I heard could not be stock pipes.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a beautiful trike and a guy in red gear.

The trike was so shiny and covered with lights,
And look – those ARE Vance & Hines pipes.

The white-bearded driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

Pulling the trike, all riding in formation,
Were eight custom bikes from the Star nation.

More rapid than eagles, he called them by name,
“Now V-Star ! Now Roadstar! Now Roadliner and Stratoliner!

On Raider! On Venture! On Warrior and VMax!
To the top of the hill, to the sea water wall,

Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!”

He spoke not a word, but went right to his work,
Filled all the stockings then turned with a jerk,

Stretched out his hand to the side and down low,
Gave a good biker’s wave, went back out to the snow.

He sprang to his trike, gave the “go” sign with his fist,
Kickstands up, in first gear, gave the throttle a twist.

A beautiful roar could be heard as they rode out of sight,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.
